Zoey was born in Los Angeles, California. She lived in various places during her childhood. Her dad's job moved them around a lot. Her father Caleb Deschanel, was a cinematographer. Her mom, Mary Jo Weir, is an actress and she inspired Zooey. Her sister, Emily, is also an actress. I guess it runs in the family.
Zooey went to French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts, a selective summer camp in New York. Zooey also attended Northwestern University, but eventually dropped out in order to persue a career in acting.
Zooey's first movie was a comedy called Mumford. Since then, she has appeared in many movies including: ALmost Famous, Maniac, Abandon, The Good Girl, All the Real Girls, Elf, Eulogy,Winter Passing, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Faliure to Launch, Once Upon a Mattress, The New Guy, and most recently, Bridge to Terabithia. Zooey will be starring in a new Sci Fi Channel miniseries called Tin Man. This show will put a modern twist on the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Zooey also has a new movie coming out where she will be playing the role of Janis Joplin in Gospel According to Janis
Zooey Deschanel is also very much into music. She has performed vocally in many of her movies including, Bridge to Terabithia, Elf, The New Guy, and Winter Passing. There is no doubt she will also preform musically in Gosple According to Janis.
